Ellen White
I have lived on Bowen Island for 2.5 years (love it!), am married to a very patient and understanding husband, John and have two beautiful daughters, Isobel (7) and Lucy (3). I have always loved to sew and create, making embroidered quilts, bags and blankets. My true love, is creating felted toys - everything from dinosaurs to toothfairy pillows. To make and create is my down time - I can get lost in the choosing of fabrics, hand stitching and giving my little 'people' their own personalities.

Leah Serna
After many attempts at knitting I fell into a beautiful rhythm of self-taught crochet to fill the dark days of winter. I made many, MANY hats...which I sold at the local Yuletide Fayre. I moved on from making hats, bags and scarves to crocheting little creatures from the sea...octopi and jellyfish, which you may see adorning the houses of local folks you know! Come and learn how to make a hat or creature to share...beginner style!

Saffron Gurney
Having taught for 15 years in a Montessori preschool / elementary environment, Saffron started her own art school on Bowen Island.  She brings out the creativity in every child she teaches and can accomplish more in an hour, than some of us mum's can in months with our little ones.  Saffron has a natural ability with children and adults and makes you look at art with a very different perspective.  My children have thrived under her instruction and she is an asset to the Hive.  (Written by Ellen White)

Ily Allen
Ily's Sewing Services
Ily owns a very successful sewing business on Bowen, primarily mending and altering clothing and upholstery. She has an extensive background in art, mainly in 3D medium.  An interesting fact about Ily, her degree is in forensic archeology!!

Eva Kepesova
Eva is originally from Slovakia and came to Canada in 2005 as a nanny.  Eva taught herself to knit by the age of 10.  She learnt through watching the older ladies who would knit on hot summer days. Through constantly challenging herself, she was able to work through the most complicated of patterns and by 13 years old, she was able to knit a complete sweater.  Eva is now a rather accomplished knitter!  Eva is also proficient in cross stitch...so maybe watch this space!
